Operational Plan Innovation
The operational plan introduces innovation both in terms of the final product and the production process as the new substrates are both part of the nursery product (plant+substrate) and part of the plant production process. Regarding the concept of “product”, the final nursery products (plant + substrate) will be accompanied by new innovative substrates, of high stability-fertility and more environmentally friendly, with plants which will be of better quality.
Regarding the concept of “production process” partial or total replacement of peat or other materials in the production process will be achieved. The current situation is characterized by purely nursery products, using substrates composed of mining materials (eg peat, perlite). The aim of the project is to change the status quo by aspiring to contribute expertise to the emerging research field of peat-alternatives and reducing the carbon footprint of nursery production through circular economy methods.
